Ladder

A ladder is a way to organize players into groups based on how well they do in games. Players compete against each other in matches, and the results of these determine where each player stands on the ladder. The pickleball competition gets tougher as you move up the ladder.

Our ladders are set up in a straight line, the list of players is in the order of how they rank. You move up the ladder as you win matches and accumulate points.  If you lose matches, you might fall down the ladder. When you play, you get points based on your score, which changes your ranking.

Players rotate through partners on their court and accumulate points for every game they play. After three games to 12 points (four games to 9 points if there are 5 people on your court), the scores are added, and the top player from each court moves up the ladder.  The player with the lowest number of points moves down.  Another set of matches ensues, points tallied, and the resulting changes in position are identified for the following week.

Expectations: Players are expected to be able to play all sessions.

Women's Shootout

The women’s shootout is a new idea we are going to try.  It will run from March 31 - April 21 on Tuesdays from 1-3pm.  You can play 1 week or all 4 weeks.  It is designed to offer flexibility while still aiming for good competitive pickleball.  Each week, 6 games will be played.  After the first 3 games, players will move up or down a court depending on the number of wins.  Anyone who is interested will register at this link:

https://forms.fillout.com/t/fwYQ2FPzNQus

This registration is only being used to capture names and  skill level of those interested so courts can be assigned on the day of the games.  The app TeamReach will be used to create a group for the shootout.  A couple of days before each week of play, everyone who registered will be invited to play by the TeamReach app.  If you are able to play that week, please respond with a yes.  Courts will then be assigned based on skill level and number of players.  So, invite your PB friends to register so we can have some great games and fun.  If you have any questions, contact Theresa Payne, (410) 241-7532.
