Community Tennis Court Etiquette Guidelines
To promote a positive and enjoyable experience for all players, we ask that you follow these simple tennis court etiquette guidelines:
1. Respect Court Reservations & Time Limits
-
Follow Booking Rules: If the court is reserved, make sure to arrive on time. If you're playing in a reserved spot, be courteous and give priority to those who have a reservation.
-
Respect Time Limits: Be aware of any court time restrictions and vacate the court promptly when your time is up, especially if others are waiting to play.
2. Wait Your Turn
-
If a court is in use, please wait respectfully outside the fenced area or behind the designated waiting line. Do not interrupt players mid-match.
3. Keep the Court Area Clean
-
Dispose of Trash Properly: Always pick up after yourself. Use the bins provided for water bottles, wrappers, or any other waste.
-
Avoid Food on the Court: Please refrain from eating on the court to keep the surface clean and safe for play.
4. Be Mindful of Noise
-
Limit Disruptions: When playing, avoid loud conversations or other noises that could disturb others. Keep cheering and talking at a reasonable level, especially if other players are on adjacent courts.
-
Control Music Volume: If listening to music, use headphones or keep the volume low so it doesn’t disturb fellow players.
5. Respect the Surroundings
-
Avoid Cross-Court Interference: Be mindful of players on neighboring courts. If possible, avoid hitting balls out of bounds that may disrupt other games.
-
Don’t Walk Through Courts: When moving between courts, walk around the outside perimeter to avoid distracting players during their match.
6. Warm-up and Practice Considerately
-
Share the Space: If practicing, try to avoid excessive noise or using large areas of the court for solo drills. If the courts are busy, consider practicing in designated areas or during quieter times.
-
No Solo Play on Reserved Courts: Do not reserve a court for practicing alone when others may be waiting to play a match.
7. Be Respectful of Other Players’ Skill Levels
-
Play Responsibly: Choose to play with others who are at similar skill levels. This helps maintain a friendly and competitive atmosphere for all participants.
-
Be Courteous During Competitive Play: Avoid boasting or complaining excessively about the outcome of a game. Always congratulate your opponent after a match.
8. Proper Attire
-
Wear appropriate tennis shoes and sportswear for safety and comfort. Avoid running shoes or sandals as they may be unsafe for court surfaces.
9. Care for the Court and Equipment
-
Report Any Damage: If you notice any damage to the court or equipment (nets, posts, etc.), inform the proper authorities to have it addressed.
-
Don’t Alter the Surface: Avoid unnecessary scraping or damaging the court surface with your racket.
10. Provide Space for Newcomers
-
Be welcoming to new or beginner players. If you see someone struggling, offer tips or simply encourage them. A friendly community helps everyone enjoy the game.
11. Stay Safe
-
Hydrate: Bring water to stay hydrated, especially on hot days.
-
Warm Up & Cool Down: Take time to stretch before and after your game to prevent injury.
These guidelines aim to foster a respectful, safe, and enjoyable environment for all players.
Let's all do our part to make our community tennis courts a welcoming place for everyone!
