Recycle Program

Recycle: We would like to thank the tennis community for supporting our recycling efforts. A special thanks to Randy Sleet who leads this effort. This is a volunteer position and not part of the duties of Castle. Let’s all pitch in while on the courts and use the recycle bins properly. Trash should only go in the trash containers attached on the side of the tennis nets. Castle empties these containers. NO TRASH should go into the blue recycle bins on the courts or in the toter cans outside the courts. Please place the metal tennis can tops and plastic cans in the blue recycling bins. Tennis balls only go in the larger toter bins on the sidewalks outside the courts. Old tennis shoes go in the storage bin next to the pickleball courts 1-4.

Does it really make a difference if I put my unused tennis balls in the trash verse the recycle toters? The answer is YES you make a difference. A tennis ball takes 400 years to decompose. Approximately 125 million used tennis balls wind up in landfills each year. TAG working with the non-profit organization Recycle Balls is making a difference. Check out their website to see how recycled balls makes a difference. If you would like to help with our recycling efforts in IslandWalk just send us an email at islandwalktag@gmail.com.
